Electrophoretic coating is a coating method in which the parts to be processed are placed into the corresponding electrodes into the water-soluble paint, and then connected to the power supply, relying on the physicochemical effect generated by the electric field, the resin and color filler in the paint are uniformly precipitated and deposited on the surface with the coated object as the electrode to form a paint film insoluble in water. Electrophoretic coating is an extremely complex electrochemical reaction process, which includes at least four processes: electrophoresis, electrodeposition, electroosmosis and electrolysis. Electrophoretic coating can be divided into anodic electrophoresis (the workpiece is anode and the paint is anionic) and cathodic electrophoresis (the workpiece is cathode and the paint is cationic) according to the deposition performance; DC electrophoresis and AC electrophoresis according to the power source; and fixed voltage and fixed current method according to the process method. At present, the more widely used in the industry is the anodic electrophoresis of DC power supply with fixed voltage method.

The difference between electroplating and electrophoresis:
It is the middle object is different, one is metal ion, one is colloid. The result after treatment is also different, electroplating is a layer of metal plating, protection, rust prevention, aesthetics and other functions; electrophoresis is generally used for painting, that is, the surface is coated with a layer of paint, commonly used in the automotive industry.Electroplating has a metallic texture. Electrophoresis is only a high imitation of electroplating, performance, color or a certain gap.
